Program 1:

Powerful Tax Incentives for the “Green Collar” Client and How Life Insurance Fits When Preserving Land

Course Abstract:  The powerful tax incentives that recently passed that apply to property owners are astounding and relatively unknown.  Owners of family property who have land that has been passed down over the generations and used as a family retreat, or property with stunning views, wetlands, woodlands, forests, open land, or property used for fishing, hunting, boating, hiking, or as a farm or ranch, for example– may all qualify for the tax incentives. In this course, we will discuss what land conservation means and its technical aspects, what the land conservation tax incentives are, and the history behind these incentives, to provide context.  We will then address how life insurance can be used to restore the economic value of the land for the heirs.

Attendees of this one-hour presentation will learn:

  • Tax Incentives available under Section 170 (h)
  • How to qualify clients for the tax benefits under IRC Section 170(h)
  • How life insurance may be used to restore the economic value lost when protecting property

Program 2:

and Tax Forms to Support Life Insurance Applications

Course Abstract:  This course will provide producers with an understanding of the financial documentation they can use to help justify the face amount of life insurance applied for where the insurance need is based on key person coverage or buy-sell arrangements.  The producer will leave the presentation with a better understanding of what an underwriter is looking for when they review a business case.

Attendees of this one-hour presentation will learn:

  • What is “financial underwriting” generally and why is it important
  • Income and asset guidelines associated with financial underwriting
  • Specifics of Key Person coverage; how this info changes for “start-up” enterprises
  • What information should be included in a cover letter that accompanies a life application
