Medicare is a federal program covering almost 60 million Americans.  Still, most have at best a sketchy understanding of how it works and what it means to them individually.  This presentation will provide an overview covering the history of Medicare, enrollment guidelines, how Medicare integrates with other insurance and a discussion of the importance of planning for healthcare costs in retirement.  Attendees will learn:

  1.   The basic components of Medicare (Parts A, B, C, D) and the relationship of Medicare to private insurance programs
  2.   The importance of those approaching Medicare eligibility to be proactive in their planning to avoid penalties and other adverse consequences
  3.   The potential magnitude of healthcare-related costs (both Medicare and non-Medicare) in retirement
