This course will demonstrate interest rate arbitrage techniques that take advantage of our current unprecedented economic environment. We will examine and compare straight loan arrangements, loan regime split-dollar arrangements, leveraged executive bonus, and grantor retained annuity trusts. With these techniques, attendees will be able help their clients freeze their estates, use corporate assets for personal planning, and gain overall benefit for their clients’ families.

Bruce A. Tannahill, JD, CPA/PFS, CLU, ChFC, AEP is an experienced tax, estate and business planning attorney and CPA with specific expertise in estate and business planning, qualified plans, IRAs, life insurance, and annuities. In his role as Director, Estate and Business Planning for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, he assists MassMutual agents in serving their clients on estate planning, business planning, Social Security, and personal planning matters. Bruce is a nationally recognized author on the topics of retirement planning and trust and estate issues. He is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for National Underwriter’s Tax Facts and co-author of three books. His articles have been published in various industry and professional publications, including Trusts & Estates, Estate Planning, Probate & Property, and the Journal of Financial Service Professionals. He was the Qualified Plans & Retirement Counseling columnist for the Journal of Financial Service Professionals from 2012 through May 2015. He is a former Director of the Society of Financial Service Professionals. He received his Juris Doctor, with distinction, from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, Kansas City, MO and his BSBA in Accounting, Summa Cum Laude, from University of Dayton.
