Simplicity and Success: A Plethora of Estate Planning Opportunities in the New Tax Landscape
July 18, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
Since the dust has settled on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, clients have turned their attention to adapting their estate plans to take advantage of the new tax landscape. Clients are streamlining documents and looking for tools and techniques that maximize planning opportunities. During this presentation we will review key planning concepts, consider strategies for existing clients, discuss planning opportunities that generate new life insurance sales, and examine a few traps for the unwary!
Attendees will learn:
- The impact of the increased exemptions, including how states will respond, and the impact of the 2026 rollback to previous levels.
- Opportunities to lock in their current exemptions and possibly avoid future transfer taxes, such as lifetime gifts, dynasty trusts, and the gift of low–basis assets.
- How life insurance policies can be used in estate planning beyond the traditional use of paying the estate tax.
