Retirement Income: Which Account, When? (Chapter Hosted Webinar)
September 12, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
A variety of research exists on when to harvest from different accounts to create a more tax-efficient retirement income stream. Unfortunately, the research doesn’t seem to agree. Some demonstrates the value of using nonqualified money early in retirement while other research demonstrates the value of using IRA funds. Most of the research is presented through case studies. Ultimately, these decisions are unique to client circumstances, resources, and risk preferences, making an individualized decision critical. This presentation addresses what to consider in terms of income stability, risk, and tax, and how to discuss these issues with clients.
Attendees will learn:
- What to consider when deciding which accounts to harvest from and at which points in retirement
- How to identify future tax issues related to RMDs
- Why partial annual Roth conversions may be more compelling now than ever before
- When to hold off on IRA distributions until 70 1/2, and when not to.
